CSA 2012 Week 0

This year our CSA (Potager Andre Samson) started up something new, they are offering an extended season option to members.  What that means is that those who select (and pay for) an extra three drop offs: 1 pre-season drop off, and 2 post-season drop offs.  Last week we was the preseason drop-off, here what we got:

  • three small containers of strawberries
  • a bag of sunflowers sprouts
  • a bag of spinach
  • turnips
  • radishes
  • bok choi
  • two big heads of leafy lettuce

Pretty good for an early basket!  So we’ve started in our regiment of eating salads.  The sprouts have made a nice addition to salads, giving them a crunch and a nutty flavour.  The strawberries are the stars though, small and juicy and sweet. Nothing like the giant bionic strawberries from the grocery store.

Edited to add: I was invited to add myself to the link up party happening over here at in her chucks. If you enjoy looking at pictures of produce, I highly recommend you head over there and take a look!
